Irene Mensah is a highly experienced creator and coordinator of community arts projects. She draws upon her own practice as a visual artist, and her combined experiences as a performer of traditional Guinean Dances, and member of a professional integrated dance theatre company, High Spin.

She has led groups which include young children from a Black and Multi Ethnic organisation, schools in disadvantaged areas, adults and children with learning difficulties and youth groups with young people at risk of exclusion, to choreograph site specific performance and art installations.

Her training includes South East Dance’s Creative Dance Apprenticeship, using the arts to work with young people at risk, advocacy training for Black and Mixed heritage young people at risk of exclusion, and a specialised apprenticeship to co-lead workshops for the Carousel Arts organisation. She is currently co-leading their accredited volunteers training programme.
