Lisa Douglas

Nine years ago Lisa studied dramatherapy and graduated with a significant understanding in drama therapy, facilitating, acting, directing, human development and psychotherapy. Since then she has developed her practitioner skills through eight years of critical evaluation and practice by teaching and facilitating a variety of client groups. Examples of her experience includes managing a Theatre Arts Project in the City of Westminster for the Youth Service, running a Children’s Unit in a women’s refuge to co-ordinating a project for people affected by HIV, running workshops for youth offending teams and co-founding a theatre company.

Over the years Lisa’s teaching work has consisted of using theatre as a tool for educational achievements in the form of workshops, rehearsal sessions working with professional actors for public performance and arts event management with young people. Lisa feels passionate about working with young people and has found that theatre and drama are an effective and positive communication process to develop personal and social skills and enhance life opportunities. Currently she is studying drama therapy at a Masters level in order to qualify as a drama therapist.

Lisa’s particular interest is children and adolescent Mental Health/disorders in relation to offending behaviour. Including factors such as Domestic Violence and the affect drama therapy work can have to empower individuals and groups in order to facilitate growth, healing and change.
