Phil Mullen, Artsplan Trainer
Phil Mullen is an Irish Community Musician and trainer based in London and working across the UK and internationally.
He trained as a community musician with the late John Stevens in 1985 and has been working in the field since then.
Phil has specialised in working with young people at risk, with homeless people and with offenders and has also worked extensively in the formal education sector at primary, secondary and University level. He has also work with people with mental health problems, children and teenagers with both learning and physical disabilities and elderly people as well as those in hospice care.
Phil runs a team of musicians, dancers and drama workers called SoundPeople delivering Youth Arts Projects in London and the South East.
Phil has an MA in Community Music from York University and speaks at conferences and offers training in participatory arts internationally. To date he has worked in Ireland , South Africa , The Middle East , Norway , Denmark , Sweden , Holland , Austria , USA , Malaysia ,Singapore and New Zealand .
Phil runs an education project for the London Philharmonic Orchestra called the Open Ear Orchestra and has been involved with training workshop leaders for Goldsmiths College, London since 1990.
